4 Tips on Starting a Great Blog

Here are some tips on how to start a good blog.

1. Build your blog roll. Your blog doesn't exist in a vacuum. You should be aware of the content that is being generated around your industry or niche, so that you can provide commentary along the same lines as others, and also interact with your peers. Also, you want to know who the players are, because you'll want to eventually try and get some link love from them at some point down the line.

2. Start reading evey day. You'll get lots of ideas from reading these other blogs. You will find other blogs linked to from your initial list, and you can continue to expand your blog roll. By reading every day, you'll get ideas on topics you can write about. Also, an easy way to write a starter post for those who are not seasoned writers, is by simply commenting on an existing post.

3. Start commenting on blogs every day. Comment on some of the blog posts that you are reading. You can place a link back to your blog within your comment. Also you will be giving some useful interaction to that blog author and possibly get them interested in reading your blog and, again, eventually hooking you up with some link love.

4. Find forums. Forums are another great place for you to interact with the community of people in your niche. You can build relationships and give useful commentary on topics in your niche so that readers will be interested in hearing more from you and will read your blog.
